Article from The Sarnia Observer, July 20, 2009

The Optimist Club of Moore with St. Clair Township has initiated a joint project that would see a "SPLASH PAD" built in Corunna Athletic Park, or C.A.P. Park as it is known, located on Hill Street in Corunna.

The new SLASH PAD would feature above-ground interactive water toys with little to no standing water. Typical splash park toys that might be included are water turrets, buckets and fountains.

Optimist Club of Moore President Fred Strickland, St. Clair Township Recreation Director Gary Hackett, and St. Clair Township Council members were encouraged by the idea of a splash pad. It was felt that this would be something that could be enjoyed by the youngsters of Corunna and surrounding areas.

The MOORE COMMUNITY & RECREATIONAL FOUNDATION was one of the first organizations to step forward and make a donation to help offset the Optimist Club of Moore's share of the $160,000.00 cost of the SPLASH PAD. This cost, $160,000.00, will be shared equally by the Optimist Club of Moore and St, Clair Township. And the Optimist Club of Moore is enthusiastically canvassing the area for donations to help offset their share of the $160,000.00.

Donations towards the cost of the SPLASH PAD can be made to the Optimist Club of Moore. If a tax receipt is required please make your cheque payable to St. Clair Township with a notation of the donation being for the "OPTIMIST CLUB of MOORE SPLASH PAD.

The Optimist Club of Moore, St. Clair Township Officials and an outside contractor have developed a design for the "NEW" SPLASH PAD that will closely resemble the one already in Sombra and it has been approved by all parties concerned.

A "Splash Pad" is the newest trend in water play and has no standing water. People of all ages will be welcome to enjoy the Splash Pad and must adhere to the Splash Pad rules. The Pad is open to the public at no charge during normal hours of operation.
